The Philadelphia Union delivered a statement performance at Subaru Park, routing FC Cincinnati 5-0 after the visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 15th minute. Cincinnati midfielder Obinna Nwobodo was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge, forcing the Eastern Conference leaders to play over 75 minutes shorthanded.
Quinn Sullivan opened the scoring for Philadelphia in the 43rd minute, calmly converting a spot kick after a foul in the box. The goal gave the Union a deserved lead heading into halftime after they had dominated possession and chances against the 10-man Cincinnati side.
In the second half, forward Bruno Damiani took complete control. He scored his first in the 52nd minute with a clinical finish in open play, added a second in the 68th minute, and completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute with another composed strike. Substitute Milan Iloski capped off the 5-0 shellacking by converting a second penalty deep in stoppage time (90+4').
